Inauguration of the computer labs by Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, MP Rajya Sabha
Computer education in secondary schools is critical in bridging the gap between the underprivileged youngsters and the “New India”, the India of young people with dreams in their eyes, the India that is being hailed as the next rising economic power.
This need was perceived by HOPE worldwide India when they began their work in Jodhpur. Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha came forward to support the cause of computer literacy in Jodhpur. We received Member of Parliament Local Area Development Funds to set up two computer labs.
On 13th November 2010, Dr, Singhvi inaugurated the computer learning centers at the two Government Secondary Schools in Maderna Colony and Pali, Jodhpur. The function was well attended by government officials, the school and HOPE worldwide staff and the students. The children are excited that the wait is finally over and they could now access the computers which they could not have afforded otherwise.
Mr. Chouhan, the political science teacher of Sri Sultan Govt. Secondary School deserves a special mention as he played an important role in coordinating the setup work with the government officials.
Dr. Premchand Sankla, Education Officer said, “I know HOPE worldwide from more than a year and there is no doubt that the work, the organisation is doing in both the govt. schools, is effective in helping others.”
